Right then, you made an error and pressed the wrong button. No? Well if you are truly interested here's a little bit about how I came to dabble in music recording and performing and writing and all.
I have always loved music and after many years of not doing anything about it and bragging about how I could do that if I wanted to my better half called my bluff. One christmas I opened an envelope which contained a set of singing lessons seeing as I thought I would be good at it. Not being one to shirk a challenge I said fair enough and went along. Possibly at the time the most frightening thing I had ever done. But did it, enjoyed it and carried on with it. Eventually I joined an amateur group which puts on musicals and stuff. Yes, I know lots of you hate those things but this is a good group, blessed with good musicians and good organisation, it is very enjoyable.
I did singing lessons for two years and acquired a great deal of technique and improved a great deal. I then gave up the singing lessons and started piano lessons. Having always wanted a piano, I decided to go out and buy one despite the fact I couldn't play. Now I can, after a fashion, although I am still firmly in the keen amateur class. I have also started to learn guitar, but I am firmly in the beginner set on that instrument.
I then decided I wanted to write my own stuff, which meant I had to have some gear to record it on. I started by reading some books, the first was by Paul White of Sound on Sound Magazine fame and then bought some kit and carried on from there. Music production will probably send me to an early grave, but I enjoy it. Over the years I have acquired a broad range of experience and skills.
So what is Abstract Friends? Well, it is the name under which I record my tracks. No, I have never written anything I have sold, then again I have never tried to sell them. Realistically, the stuff I like does not really fit the commercial market in 2004. Abstract Friends is the name under which I offer the services shown here.
